LOST CITY EXPERIENCE PARK OULU 2008

Lost City: Oulu 2008

Lost City Oulu 2008 was an eight-day dramatized urban event. It consisted of various performances, tours, and games that combined role-playing techniques, theater, and site-specific performances within the urban space. The goal was to alienate city dwellers from their own city so that it would appear to them as new, inspiring, and worth experiencing. Practically, this involved creating a performance lasting over a week, where the environment and the everyday life of the viewer/participant would become part of a fictional framework. In this project, I was responsible for directing and executing the info kiosk. From the info kiosk, viewers could “purchase” performances and “tours” of their own city. The menu offered around twenty different performances. Some of the tours were self-guided, where individuals received instructions from the kiosk that they had to follow, while others involved a guide “performer” leading the viewer on the tour. Additionally, I performed at the opening event and press conference.
