Sound Design and Music: Joonas Pirttilä
Cast: Karo Lauronen, Heli Perttula, and Kati Niemi

The play explored the increasing distress among young girls and the female role model presented by the media. The name “The Beijing Document” refers to a global action plan established in China ten years prior to address obstacles to women’s rights. The dramatic structure of the performance mirrored the declaration made in Beijing. Although Finland is considered a country of gender equality, many aspects of equality remain unmet. The goal of the performance was to highlight issues often overlooked in society. “The Beijing Document” aimed to provoke thought and hopefully bring to light the ongoing inequalities in the field of gender equality. The performance had an investigative approach, utilizing literature as its material, with contributions from a group of young people from Helsinki alongside the working team.
