THE OTHER

The Other (Toinen) BALTIC CIRCLE 2012

How are we here? How should we be here? Who could I be, could I be someone else, some other kind than I am now? Again, I’m this. Why can’t I be like that? Why haven’t I done that, but this instead? Even though I try to do the same thing, the outcome is not the same at all. I try to exist like someone else. I steal a detail for my own life.

Four actors and a documenter met an unknown person. They went to his apartment, wore his clothes, ate his food, watched his favorite programs, and answered his text messages. They rummaged through the unknown person’s belongings and drew conclusions.

The Other was a performance in which the audience met a reborn resident, four times during the same performance, interpreted by four different actors. A performance that took place in a home where someone lives their complex own life.
